Handicapped youth inspire me. Even though they are born with unchangeable circumstances I fell as if though they live life to the fullest and don’t let whatever there handicapped there disability maybe stops them. I have a cousin who suffers from downs syndrome and a heart condition. Every day that she wakes up is a miracle because she wasn’t supposed to live passed her first year and she’s five. She only had to go through one heart surgery and she was supposed to be getting them up till the time she was sixteen. The doctors also said she wasn’t supposed to talk or walk but she’s talking and using sign language to the fullest, you can barely keep up with her when she got a head start on running. There have been no limitations that the doctor has set that she has completely surpassed every bound the doctors have thrown in her way, but she has proven to be able to do so much more and constantly with a smile on her face. In the craziest since she has become my rock and my since of balance. Whenever I’m down and out I can look to her and just listen to the sound of her voice or jus engage in a simple thing like reading her a book or playing Legos with her and that brings me an instant smile just being able to be in her presence I feel like every hour or day I spend with her is a blessing for me because I get to be in her company. So truth be told someone like myself who have no mental or physical handicaps could only dream about walking a day in their shoes. So the next time any of us dare complain about are life’s I think we should check ourselves because it could always be worse.
